"Ice Carnival" at the Icehouse these School Holidays

Spring onto the ice - Carnival-Style!

If you’re looking for cool ideas on how to entertain the kids these school holidays, or if you're a student in search of a fun afternoon or night out with friends, visit the Icehouse's Ice Carnival for a fun and memorable ice skating experience. With plenty of special events plus extra General Skating sessions throughout the fortnight - Icehouse is guaranteed to be a blast!

Fun for Families and Kids

Kids look great on skates! So visit the Australia's latest ice sports and entertainment centre these holidays for an amazing "Ice Carnival" experience. Kids will love the on-ice entertainment and roving characters at every morning and noon General Skating session across the holidays. Join 'SkaterDude' (the Icehouse mascot) out on the ice and join in the carnival-style fun and games! Plus - he has a new friend - a brand new Skater Girl character that we need your help in naming! Visit the Icehouse and submit your entry suggesting a great name for our new Skater Girl and you could win an iPod! There's delicious icy cold snow cones in the Skaters Lounge every day, yummy carnival food, Face Painting on Saturdays from 1-5pm, a spinning wheel game with great prizes, plus every guest receives a free ride at Wonderland Fun Park!

Drop off the kids or join in the fun yourself! The Icehouse caters for kids who want to skate from age three and above, little ones must have an adult present when they skate. But if the kids are happy to skate by themselves, Mums and Dads can relax knowing that their kids will be in a safe and fun environment with Ice Ambassadors looking out for them on the rink. Parents can join their kids out on the ice, or sit in the ambient and warm Igloo Café with a delicious snack and coffee, whilst their tiny tots play in the Cafe Kids Activity area.

Fun for 'Big' Kids

Teens and adults alike looking for a place to chill out with their friends will get right into the action with live DJ sets and the Icehouse's 'Battle of the Bands' event taking place across the holidays. From Sunday 19th September through to Sunday 3rd October on Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday nights, the Icehouse will play host to emerging local bands live on stage rinkside on the massive Bradbury entertainment rink, with spectacular sound, lighting, big screen, and of course, live music! The two most popular bands will battle it out in an epic Grand Final showdown on Sunday 3rd October to a live skating audience.

The winning band's prize is a full day recording session at Salt Studios, complete with sound engineer and 10 hours studio time, worth $660. To register your band or get more information, click here.

The Icehouse is also running live DJ'd General Skating sessions every afternoon and evening with the latest tracks, music requests, prizes and every guest receives a free ride giveaway for Wonderland Park!

Pond Hockey

For kids and the young at heart... Back by popular demand, Pond Hockey takes place exclusively over the holidays, and offers guests the chance to experience what its like to hold a stick in your hand and shoot a puck! The Icehouse provides: skates, ice hockey helmet, hockey stick and puck. All sessions are carefully supervised to ensure safety. Pond Hockey sessions play out on: 20, 21, 22, 23, 24th September and 27, 28, 29, 30th September from 12pm – 2pm

Cost for a 2-hour Pond Hockey session on the hockey rink is $25 or just $10 in addition to your General Skating session. See you on the pond!

* During the holidays and some other busy General Skating sessions, 'Ice Cuts' are performed for 20 minutes mid-skate session, to ensure the ice is kept smooth and to ensure a safe, consistent ice surface. Skaters will be asked to clear the rink so that the Ice Cat can smooth and prepare the ice for the remainder of the session, to benefit and enhance everyone's ice skating experience. Guests should also be aware that popular school holiday sessions, particularly weekdays at 12:30pm can be very busy sessions. Guests are advised to arrive at least 30 minutes prior to the session commencing to ensure ample skating time.
